Creativity has always been a constant flow in Alweil’s blood. At age twelve, she began her voyage making t-shirts in her garage. Having a tad of savvy business sense early on, Alweil walked her tees into Fred Segal and within weeks her Splash tees were sold nationwide. Later she was introduced to Stephen Young, a manufacturer’s rep., who she worked with for over 10 years before venturing out on her own. In 1992, after forecasting a boom towards natural products, Alweil brought Neal’s Yard Remedies to the United States. She successfully imported and distributed the line into retail stores like Fred Segal, Barneys, Bloomingdales and Neiman Marcus.

Soon after the launch of Neal’s Yard, companies began to contact Alweil for representation and consultation. In 1993 she started Karen Alweil Studio, one of the few National sales representative companies available in the United States. Today, Karen Alweil Studio is a national representative of over 30 manufacturers. With an extensive presence in the wholesale industry, KAS has established solid relationships with the best retailers worldwide.

Karen Alweil Studio participates in at least 8-10 trade shows a year, including Interhall in the High Point Furniture Market where she has just won the Best American Designer of the year in the category of Preserving the Past, by Home Magazine.

Karen Alweil Studio also provides distribution and consultation services in such areas as marketing, merchandising, and product development.
